Howard Prairie is at 38 percent full and dropping. After the resort ramp closes, the gravel ramp near the dam will be the primary access for small, trailered boats.
Hot weather has likely slowed trout fishing success. Anglers may want to try trolling in the old creek channel opposite the marina, or bait fishing near Buck Island or around the dam. Be cautious with catch-and-release fishing for trout as reservoir temperatures rise.
