The Upper Kern flows have been ideal lately. The DFWL have been steadily stocking better grade trout along the 20-mile stretch. Anglers have been scoring fish from the North Fork of Isabella up to Powerhouse #3. Rainbow trout in the 2 to 3-pound range have been reported with salmon eggs, spinners, and trout jigs. The Upper Kern River was stocked this week in Section 5, Fairview Dam to Lazy River Lodge. The South Fork Kern River has been producing planters and has been stocked the last couple weeks. In the Lower Kern, flows are dangerously high in the canyon. Closer to Bakersfield, Bass have been coming on small plastics and spinnerbaits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 863 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 2456 CFS.
