Flows in the Upper Kern are ideal, and the water clarity is good. Weekly trout stocks have kept a steady bite going here. Anglers have been scoring natives and holdovers with salmon eggs, crickets, trout jigs and spinners. Fly anglers are having the best success with dry-dropper rigs with a Yellow Sallie nymph on the bottom. In the Lower Kern, Bass have been coming on a variety of offerings. Small Bass have been coming on small jigs, grubs, spinnerbaits, and soft plastics. Catfish can be caught with Triple S Dip Baits, clams, and worms. Bluegill have been coming on live worms. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 593 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 1793 CFS.
