Fall Chinook has been slowing down the past few weeks and is nearly done. Fall Chinook will close Dec. 31.
Although a decent number of fish were caught early on, the Siuslaw has since slowed down quite a bit. We likely won't see another push of fish coming into the Siuslaw Basin.
As fish are moving higher upstream, remember Lake Creek on the Siuslaw is closed to all salmon fishing.
The Siuslaw is open for retention of hatchery winter steelhead. Although it's still early in the season fish have likely taken advantage of the incoming rains and moved quickly through tide water and into the upper river.
Trout fishing closed Oct. 31.
