Colorado River - Laughlin - Laughlin, NV

The striper bite is picking up along the shores of the Colorado River. Reports from Lake Mohave indicate that anchovies are effective for bringing stripers to the boat, while largemouth bass are guarding fry or late bloomers on their nests. Carp are stirring up silt on the bottom, causing some water cloudiness, and are still jumping during spawn.

Local angler Dale Scott had success fishing from shore in the Rotary Park area, landing a couple of stripers, with the larger one weighing 2.16 pounds and measuring 18 and 3/8 inches. Anchovies were the bait of choice. The Community Park area is also producing well for striper fishing. Panfish are guarding nests, signaling the end of the spawning season soon, but smaller stripers are abundant, and bait fishing is successful. One angler reported success with a 4-inch Storm Bait Wildeye Shad. Watch water levels while boating and ensure secure knots, as there are big fish in the area.
