The best method to fish Donner Lake now is to troll for Mackinaw. Anglers trolling for mackinaw should try using large rapalas, lyman lures, and vertical jigging for the best results. Try trolling around the 40 to 60 foot water column. Some good locations to scout for trout at Donner Lake are China Cove, the east shore, and in front of the boat ramp. Shore angling has been slow, but can pick up soon. Donner Lake is at 68% capacity.
