Winter steelhead can currently be found throughout the system and bright fish are still being caught by anglers. Reports of the occasional summer steelhead being picked up are also beginning to surface and the first batch of spring Chinook are likely already in the river. Fishing pressure has died off a bit, but there are plenty of reasons to get out and fish.‌

The winter steelhead return continues to be excellent on the Clackamas River. The current run prediction is for over 4,000 returning adults. Only in 1962 and 1971 have we had more than 3,000 unmarked winter steelhead return to the trap. ‌

Creel on the Clackamas River started April 30. Most bank fishing is focused near Dog Creek. The boats are fishing mostly Barton to Carver Park. ‌
