Catfish Season: The lake will be stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish this week. We’ll stock a total of 8,500 pounds through the end of catfish season in October.

What’s the Catch? Lots of sunfish were reeled in during the warm days last weekend. Half Moon Cove is always a good place to catch panfish. Make sure you have plenty of meal and wax worms on hand. Bass were biting on crankbaits, drop shot and plastics. We heard reports of them biting around the t-dock and the entrance to Half Moon Cove. The catfish bite has been strongest around sunset. Last weekend, patience was rewarded and limits were reeled in on the southeastern shoreline as well as Siesta and Cloister Coves. Sounds like they were biting on anything garlic flavored. Shoreline fishing has been hit or miss. It’s best to fish by boat while the water level is low.

Conditions: The t-dock will remain closed until further notice. The current water temperature at the surface is around 73 degrees. The shorelines are muddy and more than a few shoes have been lost! Be cautious when fishing from the shoreline. The sun is rising at 5:43 a.m. and setting at 8:00 p.m.

Please be aware of exposed and submerged structure while boating and muddy shoreline around the lake. The lake elevation is 677’. The lake draw is complete. It will remain at the current elevation until construction is complete. Check the scope of the project and progress by visiting East County Advanced Water Purification | Helix Water District, CA (hwd.com).
