The Lower Deschutes has been fishing well despite the hot weather and smoke. Lots of fish are still coming on caddis in all stages especially after the sun is off the water. You’ll see PMDS sporadically throughout the day as well. Caddis, jigged leeches, purple duracells, micro-mays, two bits, and soft hackle pheasant tails have all been productive. Try to get down with some heavier flies, split shot or Xink Fly Sink during this hotter weather while the fish are pooled in colder water. If streamers and bigger flies are more your speed, try some tungsten jig leeches, baitfish streamers, and crayfish for some fun eats.
