Fishing slowed with the cold front last week but will improve this weekend as weather and pressure stabilizes. Trout fishing continues to be best from boats, float tubes, and kayaks as anglers can access deeper waters. Fishing for warmwater fish like smallmouth bass continues to be slow but will improve with the increased water quality. Wildhorse Reservoir remained in a severe HAB throughout most of summer, but the storms last week will aid in improving water quality with cooler temperatures and winds mixing the water. Fall trout fishing will be excellent, and anglers will do well trolling Rapalas, fly fishing with bugger and midge patterns along the drop-offs and bait fishing on the main lake points.
