The East is running at about 192 cfs right now, it’s still fishing pretty well down past the bridge and on into Nevada, the temperatures are in the mid 60’s lately and the fish down there are still very healthy. the water has cleared up quite a bit since last week and it seems as though the fish kill we had a couple weeks ago is still not affecting anything below the bridge. We haven’t really talked to anyone who’s fished the upper mile section but it’s likely not very good yet and it may take several months for fish from the lower stretches to find their way up to the mile, it’s difficult to say how long that will take. For the time being we’re still recommending to fish the lower sections and the Nevada sections where the system is much more healthy. Some of the flies we’re hearing about that are working: perdigon, pheasant tail, copper john, silver streak, rainbow warrior, picky eater perdigon, and we’ve started to get a couple decent streamer reports with sculpzilla, dead drift crayfish and ziwi’s.

 

The ranch has been fishing very well with nymphs and streamers lately, lots of good action down there with several anglers reporting 20+ fish days. The conditions are great with the current flow and the fish are happy and healthy.

 

With the cooler weather lately and the mowing program back in full swing we’re hoping to start getting some anglers out on the pond within the next couple weeks, we’ll let you know when we get things back online.

 

We’ve been getting mixed reports from the reservoir lately, some reports have been very slow and a few anglers are still getting into some good numbers of fish up in the East Walker, Robinson and Buckeye channels. The anglers who have been having some success have been using mostly pinched crawlers and mice tails up in those channels. We haven’t heard anything about any good trolling but hopefully as the weather cools the trolling should pick up.

 

We didn’t hear any news from Kirman this week but I feel like it’s still going to be a bit warm up there and it’s probably best to give those fish a rest until later in the season when the water cools down.

 

The Twins are still fishing very well both trolling and still fishing, lots of nice Kokanee, rainbows and some good browns are being caught up there. Thr trollers have been using Rapalas, Thomas Bouyants and Kastmasters while the bait anglers have been using mice tails, crawlers, power bait and pinched crawlers.

 

The West is still holding it’s own with some good fly, lure and bait action. Fly anglers have still been using dry/dropper rigs with hoppers on top and copper johns, hare’s ears and pheasant tails underneath. Bait anglers have been doing well with salmon eggs and baby crawlers and lure anglers have been having some success with Panther Martins and Thomas Bouyants.

 

The Virginias are fishing well for fly and spin anglers lately as well. The fly anglers are fishing small leech patterns, wooly buggers and Twin Lakes Specials, lure anglers are going with Kastmasters and Thomas Bouyants and bait anglers are using pinched crawlers, power bait, inflated night crawlers and mice tails.
