The river continues to fish well with a greater numbers of halfpounders in the 14-15" range, and a surprising amount of adults averaging 3-5 lb. From the fly water in Lewiston down to Pigeon Point you can find good fishing in all of the usual places. Some salmon are showing as well, keep your eyes out for those digging redds and target the steelhead with egg patterns behind the salmon. From Cedar Flat up to Pigeon Point fish are leapfrogging holding spots and these are the players, so don't ignore this stretch. Now would be a good time to swing a skater. These are summer run fish, so they will eat most of what you serve up to them, Duracells, Rubberlegs, Olive Hotspots and Bird's Nests will all work. Keep an eye on the temps if you are fishing below Douglas city. We have guide availability if you would like to get a taste of fair weather steelheading!

Steelhead Fishing Can be Frustrating
These anadromous rainbow trout are known as the 'Fish of a Thousand Casts.' For good reason! The learning curve can be quite steep learning when and where to go, and what type of water to target. Our Professional Guide Staff has decades of experience guiding the Trinity River for steelhead. A day spent with one of our guides will get you up to speed much more quickly.
