As of 09/26/24 Wild Horse Reservoir remains under a Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) watch. Please visit this webpage for more information:

The HAB is still present throughout the reservoir but is worse in the canyon and coves from Hendricks to the dam. Reservoir level is still good. Anglers are catching a few trout but overall use has been light with the poor water quality. The storms last week helped to break up the HAB cycle, but it is expected to persist into early October. Fall trout fishing should be excellent, and anglers will do well trolling Rapalas, fly fishing with bugger and midge patterns along the drop-offs and bait fishing on the main lake points.
