Castaic fishing was hampered by high winds with launching frequently prohibited. Be sure to check the weather and call the lake before making the drive to Castaic. Shore anglers found biting bass near the marina and at the west ramp using drop shot, Carolina rigs, and Senkos in green pumpkin, Margarita Mutilator, and shad colors. The topwater bite slowed significantly, but it has been worth it to keep a rod rigged with poppers, walking baits, or riser baits. Crankbaits and Shad Raps took fish along bluff walls. Striped bass moved deeper in the water column, and trolled umbrella rigs and streamer flies worked for bites. Catfish anglers used nightcrawlers, cut sardines, and chicken liver in the coves east of the marina.
