If this storm has a silver lining, it is that Shasta will be a great place to chase bass and trout. This excessive rainfall will have all of the tiny tributary creeks pumping protein into the lake- and attracting shad! While they may be somewhat brownish to begin with, it won't matter. Fish your crayfish and shad patterns. A Float n' Fly rig with a Shad Float n' Fly fished about 7 - 9' deep is working. You can also fish Balanced Leeches too. For those of you who would like to cast and feel the grab, fish an I-Line or full sinking line with JR's Minnow in Shad, a white Sparkle Minnow. Some top water bites can still be had. Bass are also targeting crayfish in he shallower spots, a full-sinking line with an Orange Jiggy Craw, Whiplash Cray, or Creek Crawler is some good stuff. Bounced down the banks this is too much fun. The fall bass and trout season is here on Shasta!

Hot Flies:

• Wooly Buggers
• Float-n-Flies
• Dead Drop Minnow
• Zack's Stillwater Balanced Leech
