Water Conditions
The middle fork of the Feather river flow is dropping now that the seasons are changing, but it is still very fishable. Water temperatures are around 60 degrees and with the weather changing, the fish should become more active.
Tips for the Week
For fly fisherman on the Feather River, nymphing is best with Prince Nymphs, Flashback PTs, Hares Ear, or Balanced Leeches. For dries, white hackles are recommended. The best areas to fish are the bottom end of the rapids and the top of the pools. For spin fisherman on the Feather River, use nightcrawlers or lures such as rooster tails or panther martins for best results. Anglers are recommended to fish their nightcrawlers through the rapids into the pools.
Suggested Flies, Lures, and Bait
Euro nymphing using hares ear, prince nymph, copper john, or balanced leeches.
