Fishing on the Metolius River has remained consistent, with steady action throughout the week. The key hatches are beginning to wind down as we head into the colder months, but there’s still plenty of opportunity for anglers. Blue-winged Olives (BWOs), around size 18, continue to hatch daily, with peak activity occurring from late morning to early afternoon. For surface feeders, focus on emergers like Film Critics or Sparkle Duns. While PMDs and Cinygmula are still present, their numbers are dwindling, so time is running out to target them. For those looking to fish deeper, nymphing remains productive, especially with patterns like golden stones, peacock stones, or Slush Eggs. These nymphs work well, particularly as colder weather sets in.
