Crooked River at 452

The Crooked River is dropping back in shape.

452 cubic feet per second is still higher than the average summer flow which is 250 to 300 cfs, but 452 is a fine flow to fish at.

Think about leeches and scuds getting washed around after flows that have been high for a couple of weeks.

Perdigons with a little bigger bead, like 3.5 to 4.2 will be good.

You should keep your eyes open for midge hatched too.

I like seeing the water at this lever as we go through a cold snap starting tomorrow for a few days. That will keep the water moving instead of icing the banks.

With the cold, I’ll also assume the runoff coming in to the reservoir will slow down and cause a drop for flows both above the reservoir, and to conserve water for summer irrigation they’ll hold flows back below the dam too.

Have fun.
