Water Conditions

The Truckee River is currently offering good winter fishing conditions with the higher flows. Flows are 80 cubic feet per second in Tahoe City, through Truckee, it is flowing around 398 CFS and 740 CFS near Farad and the stateline. With the heavy rains, water is a bit high and dirty right now on the lower section of the California side. All and all, flows are nice for winter usually, the water is often lower.

Tips for the Week

To get some bites on the Truckee River, try nymphing with some weight in the slow areas of the pools. The winter fish rest in the deeper pools in winter. If needed, use a long, slow drift to get the fish to bite.
