Applegate's surface elevation is 1,980 feet, and the surface temperature is 56F. The Copper boat ramp is available, while Hart Tish will not open until May (TBD). Check up-to-date reservoir levels here, or call the Army Corps of Engineers at 800-472-2434 for flow and temperature information.
Trout have been stocked in the reservoir recently, including 10,000 legal-sized rainbow trout and 800 trophy-sized fish. Hold-over trout are also available, so fishing should be very good. Warming surface temperatures are good news for bass anglers as well.
There is a longstanding health advisory for consumption of resident species due to elevated levels of mercury. See Oregon Health Authority consumption guidelines or the sportfishing regulations for more information.
