The Trask gets a run of hatchery spring Chinook salmon and a few have been caught at the hatchery hole, but overall fishing is slow and effort is still light. During the early season tidewater and the lower river below the hatchery will be the best bets. The Salmon/Steelhead Bobber Fishing Rule went into effect May 1st from the marker at Loren's drift up to Cedar Creek boat slide (See page 18 of the sport fishing regulations booklet for details).

The North and South Forks of the Trask closed to angling on April 1 to protect spawning wild steelhead and out-migrating juveniles, but it will re-open for trout season on May 22.
