The “Day Stretch” from Warm Springs to Trout Creek is fishing well as we move deeper into summer conditions. With the big stonefly hatches wrapped up, trout are now keyed in on PMDs and Caddis, which are coming off reliably in the afternoons and evenings. Dry fly action has been good in the lower light hours, especially along shaded banks, eddies, and foam lines. A well-placed X-Caddis or small PMD pattern can get eats when fish are up.

Subsurface remains consistent throughout the day. Euro and indicator rigs are both producing with Perdigons, Soft Hackle Pheasant Tails, Micro Mayflies, and 2 Bit Hookers doing the heavy lifting. Swinging soft hackles later in the day can be a great way to cover water and take advantage of emerging bugs.

Weather is looking favorable through the weekend with highs in the upper 70s and light afternoon breezes. Expect clear water, solid bug activity, and happy fish. Dry-dropper rigs are a great way to prospect during the day, with focused dry fly sessions early and late rounding out the day. This is classic summer fishing on the Lower D—consistent, technical, and rewarding.
