The Kilchis River opened to trout fishing on May 22nd. There should be coastal cutthroat trout throughout the basin and the Kilchis has plenty of public access off Kilchis Forest Road. Last weekend's rain should have improved fishing and may have brought in some sea-run cutthroat. Concentrate on deep pools with cover, and you should find success. Many areas have bait restrictions in place so check the regulations for those and open areas before heading out.
