Lake Del Valle Outing
Del Valle Lake - Livermore, CA (Alameda County)

I trolled Lake Del Valle on 6/26/25 targeting Smallmouth Bass. The weather in the morning started out just beautiful with no wind and sunny skies then the wind started blowing hard around 1PM. The fish bite was pretty much off all day however I was able to catch and release one Smalllie, in photo below, and one Largemouth Bass. Both fish were caught along the western shore wall in the narrows. My “go to” lure, the Roxstar 1/4 oz spinner with silver blade and brown feathers, was used to catch both fish. The fish were caught in 25’ - 30’ water column down 16’ in depth. The water conditions were favorable with the clearer water running from Swallow Bay to the dam. Water surface temperature remains fairly cool at 70.5’ to 74’.
With the clear water conditions and the lake at almost full capacity, fishing for Smallies will only get better with the peak coming in September and October. We’re looking forward to a long and productive Smallie season at Lake Del Valle this year!
As always a big thanks to the Marina staff for all their great assistance!
