Our newest local angler, Cameron Marino, landed his very first striper while fishing from shore at Rotary Park! He was using anchovies on a size 1 circle hook, secured with bait wrap thread to keep the bait in place. This time of year, stripers are typically in the 1- to 4-pound range, with the occasional 6-pounder showing up.

Cameron’s fish was caught below Davis Dam on the Colorado River. Up on Lake Mohave, anglers are having even better success, with stripers running 5 to 8 pounds. Trolling with a white Storm bait or using a swimbait in a trout pattern has been working well. Anchovies continue to be a great option for our bait anglers, both up on Lake Mohave and along the Colorado River shoreline.

With fluctuating water levels, shore fishing has been productive and a great way to save your boat props! There are several excellent spots to fish from the shore — up by the dam and on the Nevada side, where nice fishing platforms give anglers access to stripers and the occasional catfish. Community Park remains a solid option, although it's busy this time of year. Evenings are a great time to try your luck there. The Nature Center is another peaceful spot to cast a line and enjoy the view.
