Water temperatures are at 670F. Approximately 10,000 rainbow trout were stocked this spring averaging 9.6 inches. A total of 8,532 brown trout, averaging 9.9 inches were also stocked this spring. Despite warmer water temperatures, trout fishing is still productive, with recent catch rates of 3 fish per hour on rainbow trout. Several brown trout and tiger trout have been caught averaging 15 inches. Fish are hitting PowerBait, spinners, nightcrawlers, and wetflies behind a bubble.
Largemouth bass should be post-spawn now, however, as of 10 days ago female bass were still carrying eggs. Anglers have reported having excellent catch rates on bass throughout the month of June. Bass have been hitting on a variety of soft plastics and spinning baits. Be sure to have a variety of colors ready to maximize success
There is a limited Bluegill fishery at Comins Lake, and anglers are encouraged to release Bluegill to better establish their population.
Please note that NDOW has placed radio tags in several Northern Pike. Any pike over 24 inches in length that have transmitters can be removed from the lake. These pike will have an orange floy tag near their dorsal fin and a small antenna (~ 7 inches long) coming from their stomach. Please return these fish to the water for research purposes.
