Fishing for trout and whitefish can be good in the upper Imnaha River throughout the summer. Whitefish aggregate in large schools and can provide a great angling opportunity.
Downriver, smallmouth bass move into the Imnaha River from the Snake River. Anglers can catch bass on a variety of gear types including spinners, plastic baits, and flies.
Anglers should remember they might encounter bull trout in the Imnaha River. They cannot be harvested and must be released. There is no open season for Chinook Salmon on the Imnaha, and anglers may not fish for them. Any Chinook caught while fishing for other species must be released unharmed.
