Ted Cribari and Al Hurwitz trolled Lake Del Valle (LDV) on 8/21/25, looking for a variety of Bass species. It was a very hot day, the lake level was down a bit, and there was very little wind, all conditions making Bass fishing very tough. As a result, we caught only three Bass, including two very nice Largemouths, pictured here, each weighing 1 pound 11 oz., as well as a small Smallmouth Bass. The fish were all caught in different parts of the lake on a 1/4 oz. Inline Feathered Panther Martin Spinner trolled 16-21 feet below the surface in 20-30 foot water columns. The water clarity was very good, with a surface temperature of 74-76 degrees. We think fishing was slow for others as well, in speaking to those who were also Bass fishing.
A fun day, but hopefully the Bass fishing will improve with less intense heat which likely pushes the fish away from shoreline structure to deeper depths.
We thank the LDV staff for their courtesy and help in getting us on and off the lake.
Best regards,
Ted Cribari, Los Gatos
Dr. Al Hurwitz, Saratoga
