Donner Lake has been fishing well since its recent stocking, especially before the sun gets high. Kokanee are holding around 50 feet and taking pink or chartreuse hoochies behind dodgers, averaging about 12 inches. Mackinaw are deeper—150–160 feet—hitting large plugs and spoons. Shore anglers are finding success near China Cove and the west-end ramps with worms and PowerBait. The bite tends to fade by mid-morning once boat traffic picks up.
