September 17-13 --  Virginia Lakes Resort Fish Report

Weather: - 7am Temp  Sunrise/Sunset - Full Moon September 7- Full Corn Moon

NOTE: If you use a RAG on the fish or you let it flop on the shore or rocks when removing hooks, the fish is yours PLEASE DO NOT THROW IT BACK INTO THE LAKE, IT WILL DIE! IT ATTRACTS BEARS AND IS NOT GOOD FOR THE RESOURCE.

Still a good number of anglers on the lakes even with the "haze". Did not get stocked the 1st week and they stocked this past week week and it has helped to handle the fishing  pressure.

BAIT: Mice tails and crawlers are still the number one spot, mice tails pink/white head, Orange/w , Chartreuse/tan; natural garlic power bait, chartreuse and white, and rainbow garlic glitter. and pinched crawlers.

LURES:  Same as last week except for the new version of the HOT SHOT which has been remade by our Tackle Company, it's a killer. So if you have an old version of gold and red bring it!. The 1/6 oz Red/gold Buoyant, gold Kastmaster, silver/blue Kastmaster, black yellow dots Panther Martin on occasion, and still ANY small gold spoon. Stay on the small size for lures on Little V and 1/4oz on Big V. Fishing is still great but you might have to work at a bit. Mornings and late afternoon are nice and parking is easier at Little V this past week but reports that there are no parking spaces on Big V the last 2 days.

FLY AND BUBBLE: This report stays the same so continue to try some small searching patterns, Adams parachute #16, black caddis #16, small mosquito and Griffith's Gnats should do well when the sky has some cloud cover. The upper lakes haven't had much action except on a Black gnat parachute, olive elk hair caddis, and Griffith's Gnat. But not many anglers using this method this week. Everyone wants to catch a big one both lower lakes are still overcrowded to say the least.

FLY RODS: Only a couple hatches again this week. Try Light dun (BWO blue wing olive) dries toward a dark grey. Dirty Doc olive Twin Lake special with prince nymph (always) and Virginia lakes special (olive Matuka with red throat). Try midges they always work along with scuds. Regardless, the fishing has been great! No, I apologize - it's sensational!

BACKCOUNTRY: This is not going to change as school has resumed and only day hikers will hit the trail and they don't FISH. Woohoo! Wait until I hit the trail, we'll see what's going on up there. Haven't had time to go up there, but I've fished it long enough to know that some people move along with the times and fish the wrong areas with the wrong "things".

NOTE: If the trout bleeds DO NOT throw it back, it will die. If you care about the resource please be careful when releasing fish back into the water, it hurts the resource and also attracts bears!

We don't have bears now, probably because the amount of people that have fished or just visited the area and that has scared them off.

Something I have avoided mentioning is SOCIAL MEDIA has done a tremendous amount of damage to a lot of area within the Eastern Sierra. The trash and waste has increased a great deal and it's been a sort of pain for those who don't leave trash.
