Skykomish River temporary fishing closure

Skykomish River

Website

Action: Closes all fishing.

Effective dates: Oct. 13, 2025, until further notice.

Species affected: All species.

Location: Skykomish River from mouth to railroad bridge at Big Eddy.

Reason for action: This rule is necessary to close recreational fishing in Skykomish River for Snohomish basin wild Chinook conservation. Encounters with Chinook early in the recreational fishery exceeded pre-season agreements, and Chinook spawning activity is still present in the basin.

Additional information: Fishery managers encourage anglers to sign up for Fishing Rule Change email notifications and to check for emergency rules on the WDFW website before fishing. Refer to the 2025–26 Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet for current regulations. Download the Fish Washington® mobile app to stay up to date on the go.

Information contact: Fish Program, 360-902-2700.
