Fall Chinook is back open on the Siletz! Fish have started moving lower in the system and trolling through the lower river often leads to best results. There are few bank access points on the lower river, but there are a few, just be mindful of parking along HWY 229 and not blocking traffic! The Siletz has started to pick up here in the past few weeks and has continued to pick up with the recent rains! Fish are moving throughout tidewater, and catch will likely increase given the cooler temperatures. The mouth of the Siletz near Taft also offers some bank access for throwing spinners on incoming fish this time of year though reports at the mouth have slowed down.
You can troll for coho in the lower Siletz Bay. Coho are certainly rolling around the lower Siletz now, though the overall catch has remained fair. The coho fishery will remain open though some of its midcoast neighbors will close for a few weeks. Remember to check your regulations before heading out!
Cutthroat will be distributed throughout the Siletz basin. Anglers are reminded to check the regulations for the use of bait and whether there are closed streams.
