The release from Lost Creek is around 1,300cfs. The flow at Gold Ray is around 1,500cfs. River temperature out of the reservoir is 47F. Summer steelhead continue to migrate into the upper Rogue. Fishing for Chinook is now closed but Coho are starting to show up in the hatchery trap. The seasonal gear restriction is in effect where bait and lures are prohibited upstream of Fishers Ferry Sept 1-Oct 31. Fishing continues to be good for rainbow and cutthroat trout, but only adipose fin clipped rainbow trout over 8 inches may be harvested. Other trout must be released immediately unharmed.

Cole Rivers Hatchery returns as of 10/10/25:

Species/Run           New fish.    Season total

Coho                            4                      4

Summer Steelhead      15                   1,233

Anglers, please use proper catch-and-release techniques, such as keeping fish in the water as much as possible and releasing them quickly. Spring Chinook have started spawning, so please be careful not to step on reds/nests if wading. Remember that smaller rainbow are usually the steelhead that will return in future years.

For up-to-date river levels, check all the USGS Rogue gauges here.
