East Walker River
The flows on the East have been bouncing between 52 and 62 for the last week or so, landing on about 52 cfs today. The fishing has still been pretty good down there with some good streamer reports coming in as well as some good nymphing reports. We've started to get a few good reports from the "Miracle Mile" section lately which is really nice to hear. The Nevada side of the river is also fishing pretty well with good reports coming in from the Rosachi section as well as a few from the Elbow section. Some flies to try: sculpzilla, dali lama, dead drift crayfish, ziwi, perdigon, rainbow warrior, flashback emerger, copper John, soft hackle, hare's ear, darth baetis, rubberlegs.
Sceirine Ranch
The ranch is still fishing very well with lots of good reports coming in from there, as with the California side the streamer action has been very good as well as some good nymph action. The overall bookings have slowed down a bit so there's plenty of room for reservations.
Hunewill Pond
As usual the pond fished very well for some anglers this past week and not so well for others. The anglers who had the most success out there were able to net 15 to 20 fish each for a half day, mostly with bunny leeches, soft hackles and stillwater nymphs with several fish taking them into their backing during the fray. Other anglers got into 3 to 8 fish for a half day. Some of the slower action could have been due to the storms that rolled in and out this past week but overall I'd still have got say the fishing is for the most part pretty good out there.
Bridgeport Reservoir
Bridgeport has been a little hit and miss lately with some reports coming in from anglers getting skunked and other anglers getting only 1 or 2 fish per day. We had a few good trolling reports but it sounds like most anglers are just fishing from the shore down near the Bathtub and on down to the dam. Power bait, mice tails and night crawlers have been producing some fish and for trolling they've been getting some with Rapalas, Thomas Bouyants and Needlefish.
Kirman Lake
We didn't hear any news from Kirman this week, if we hear anything we'll pass it on.
Twin Lakes
The Twins have also been a little hit and miss lately with some poor reports coming in as well as some decent reports. We heard about a 4.5lb brown caught and released trolling on the Lower Lake this week as well as some other nice rainbows and some fish have been caught from the shore here and there as well. Bait anglers are using power bait, mice tails and night crawlers and trollers have been using Rapalas, Tasmanian Devils and Kastmasters.
West Walker River
We didn't hear much news from the West this week but you should still be able to get into some fish with spinners like Mepps and Panther Martins and bait like salmon eggs and night crawlers. Fly anglers can try prince nymphs, pheasant tails, hare's ears and small wooly buggers.
Virginia Lakes
The Virginia's are still kicking out plenty of good fish for fly anglers as well as spin anglers, fly anglers are using small leeches, soft hackles and wooly buggers and spin anglers are using power bait, mice tails, night crawlers, Thomas Bouyants and mini jigs.
Random Information
Things are starting to slow down here in Bridgeport as Winter and the end of fishing season creep up on us, Ken's will likely shorten our hours sometime this week and go to our 9 to 4 schedule for the upcoming months.
Ken’s Hours: Sunday through Thursday - 8am to 5pm, Friday & Saturday - 8am to 6pm
