UPPER WILLIAMSON RIVER:

Will be closed to fishing on November 1. Flows are perfect for fishing. The water is off color at Old Rocky Ford.

Dry fly fishing is fair for brook trout near the Deep Creek confluence. Best fishing for Redband Trout is below the old Rocky Ford crossing. Trico and mahogany dun mayflies are hatching. Silver striped sedge and October Caddis are hatching.

Sand Creek and Yamsi Ranches offer exceptional pay to fish operations.

Check Upper Williamson River Flows.

LOWER WILLIAMSON RIVER:

Will be closed to fishing on November 1. Closed to angling for salmon. No Bait allowed. Single point hooks only. Fishing has been very slow and inconsistent this year. Flows are low.

Redband Trout are moving around. Many are returning to the lake with some beginning their spawning migration.

Trico and mahogany dun mayflies are hatching. Silver striped sedge and October Caddis are hatching.

Most fly fisherman use a clear intermediate fly line, long fluorocarbon 4–6-pound leaders and swing small bead headed flashback pheasant tails or prince nymphs. Fish are wary therefore consider going with smaller lures and flies. No bait allowed and only single point hook is allowed.

Most of the catch is 8-to-14-inch Redband Trout but bigger Redband Trout are moving in for their spawning migration.
