It looks like the weather is going to hold through the middle of the week, so now is a good time to try to catch one of the giants we’ve been seeing coming in! Several trout over 5 pounds have been caught recently, both from boats and shore.

Trolling small spoons and crankbaits remains the best way to get bit out on the water. Drifting with your favorite bait is a close second. Focus on depths between 10 and 15 feet, but don’t be afraid to try coming up much closer to the surface.

From the shore, floating baits on 3 foot leaders are giving great results. Just don’t cast too far. You’re still aiming for about 10 to 15 feet of water. Another excellent way to hook up is to drop shot some micro baits. Come see us to get set up for this technique. Spoons are also producing some good ones, particularly as sunset approaches.

There’s also still a possibility to hook some bass, panfish, or catfish, so be sure to get out there. The lake is full of surprises!
