Stocking: Another 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout was stocked this week. The last stocking was December 1st. We will continue to stock Rainbow Trout through April. In sum, we will stock 19,000 pounds of trout this season with some additional stockings from DFW. 

What’s the Catch? The big bass have been active with trout season underway. Another 10+ pounder was caught last weekend! Bass are active in the morning and late afternoon in deep coves and drop offs - Shadow Cove, Cloister Cove, & Half Moon Cove. Drop shot and plastics have been effective; if you’re targeting larger fish use a swimbait. Adjust your lure color and presentation if the bite slows. 

Trout are cruising shallow early, then moving slightly deeper as the sun gets higher. PowerBait (rainbow, garlic chartreuse, orange, and green), nightcrawlers fished off the bottom or under a float, and mini jigs (white, pink, and trout pattern) have all been working. Head over to Hermit Cove and if you don’t get a bite, keep moving to find the schools. 

The panfish bite has been great in Cloister Cove lately! Meal, wax, or pieces of nightcrawler will usually encourage a bite. 

Don’t sleep on the catfish! They’re out there and we still receive reports every weekend of a couple of bites from shore. This Saturday in New Moon Fishing, so we’ll likely see the catfish bite pick up especially with a fresh trout stock.
