Please be aware Smith River below Sisters Creek and North Fork Smith below Bridge 10 are open for catch-and-release only for trout. Above these locations it is open for retention.
Smallmouth bass and striped bass are being caught in the tidewater sections. There are no harvest limits on any bass in the Smith River. There is also good access for angling since the Smith River Road follows the mainstem most of the time.
The ODFW Commission will adopt inland fall salmon seasons at their meeting next week. The current proposal can be found on ODFW's webpage. The current proposal for fall Chinook is one wild adult per day and 5 per season in aggregate between the mainstem Umpqua, Smith, and North Fork Smith rivers. The is no proposed for wild coho in these areas.
