Searcher skipper Art Taylor reported making over 30 stops July 18 for a dozen albacore. He said he stopped on meter marks, sonar marks and bait balls with fish on them, but found very few biters. His previous day was better by a couple of dozen albies, but still made for hard fishing.

At the Fisherman's Landing scales July 19, T. W. Cunningham of Dayton, NV won first place for a 29-pound albacore. He said he got it with a sardine on a 2/0 Mustad standard hook tied to 25-pound line on a Penn reel and a six-foot Ugly Stick rod.

His father, Lynn Cunningham of Winnemucca, NV won second place for a 28.6-pounder, and Zack Patterson of Grants Pass, who is 14 and goes to North Middle School there won third place for a 27.6-pound albie.
