Current River Conditions: Fishing has been okay on the Trinity for 1/2 pound steelhead and brown trout. River flows are down to a manageable 546 CFS. Expect to find some solitude and enjoy a few tugs in those runs you found big steelhead in last winter.
The Fly Shop's?? Tips: A variety of techniques, using your 8-9 wt rod for Salmon (in July-August), or a more adaptable 5-6 wt fly rod for small steelhead and aggressive browns will tie you into fish. Suspending nymphs under an indicator, stripping buggers and leeches, swinging muddlers or PT nymphs will produce hook-ups! Even dry flies should be in the plan. Bring a parachute Adams! Hey! In July-August, the King Salmon will eat nymphs suspended under indicators. What a blast!
Road Conditions:
Road conditions are great! It's summer! Expect delays west of Redding as you approach the twisty turney road leading up to Buckhorn Summit. Serious road work going on! Sometimes the delays can be 30 minutes long. Call 1-800.427.7623 for up to date Northern California Road Conditions.
