Skipper Jeff DeBuys docked Independence at Pt. Loma Sportfishing August 28, after the Catch Moore Tuna Charter; a 5-day trip to Guadalupe Island.

"I only have five tags left," said 18-year old Chase Anderson of Hermosa Beach. It was Chase's second time on the Independence. "My dad and I will be fishing it every year. This was my first five-day. The Indy is awesome. We only had one mako bite the motor off a tuna."

Barry Anderson of Hermosa Beach was first place with a 98.2-pound tuna. Barry fished a 2/0 Owner hook, 40-pound Izorline XXX, and a Trinidad 40 reel on a Custom Pete's Rod.

Evan Levy was second for a 88-pound tuna, and Andy Hanley of Redondo Beach was third for a 73-pound yellowfin. Joel Schafur of Redondo Beach won the special yellowtail jackpot for a 44.4-pound mossback.

"We had a good catch," remarked Skipper Debuys. "Great weather; a little choppy on the way back, but we had good fishing with a definite bonus on some good yellowtail action."
