Lake Almanor - CA (Plumas County)

Fishing  pressure has been light, however there were several boats scattered around, and the radio reported a few decent fish caught.

Mostly browns with a few rainbows reported.

Fish are present along the east shore from the Dorado to Big Cove. Canyon Dam and the east shore has had the best action. Several browns over 5 pounds and one 7 pound rainbow.

Fast action lures, like #2 Needlefish in Cop Car, or 1/6 oz. Silver Hammer finish, and the red and gold Speedy Shiners often getting attacked.

Smelt are on the east shore because that’s where the plankton is, and that’s where the fish are. Most boats were trolling fast, 2.9 to 3.4
