Newcastle Reservoir - Newcastle, Utah

Lake Information

Fish Species: Channel Catfish, Rainbow Trout, Black Crappie, Smallmouth Bass, Green Sunfish, Wiper
Newcastle Reservoir in Iron County is a 250-acre lake offering quality fishing for rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, and wipers. This southern Utah reservoir is both scenic and productive.

Rainbows are stocked in spring and fall and average 12–16 inches. They’re taken on PowerBait, spinners, and trolling lures. Fly anglers do well with woolly buggers or midges when trout are near the surface in cooler months.

Smallmouth bass thrive in rocky habitat, feeding actively on soft plastics, crankbaits, and jigs. They’re best pursued from late spring through early fall, especially at sunrise and sunset.

Wipers—hybrids of white bass and striped bass—provide hard-fighting action. Trolling shad-patterned crankbaits or casting swimbaits in open water works well, particularly in summer and fall.

The reservoir has a boat ramp, restrooms, and space for camping. Water levels can vary, so check conditions before launching.

Newcastle is a great place for anglers targeting a variety of fish in a peaceful red rock setting.
