Wide Hollow Reservoir - Escalante, Utah

Lake Information

Fish Species: Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Green Sunfish, Tiger Trout
Wide Hollow Reservoir near Escalante is a compact 25-acre fishery stocked with rainbow trout and home to summertime bluegill. It’s an excellent stop for families and beginner anglers.

Trout average 10–14 inches and bite actively in spring and fall using PowerBait, worms, or small fly patterns. Bluegill provide light-tackle fun during warmer months around shore vegetation.

The pond includes a kayak launch, restrooms, and picnic spots. Gas motors are prohibited—only electric or paddlecraft are permitted.

By midsummer, thick weeds can slow action, pushing anglers to fish morning and evening. Water warms quickly during the day, so cooler seasons and early hours yield the best trout results.

For accessible, no-pressure fishing in a desert setting, Wide Hollow offers value and enjoyment with minimal effort.
