Recapture Reservoir - Blanding, UT

Lake Information

Fish Species: Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie, Northern Pike
Recapture Reservoir near Blanding offers one of southeastern Utah’s best multi-species fisheries. Stocked rainbow trout provide good action in spring and fall, while warm months favor largemouth bass, bluegill, and catfish.

Trout anglers use worms, PowerBait, and spinners, especially near the inlet and drop-offs. Bass are active around structure, hitting crankbaits and plastics. Bluegill are plentiful along weedy shallows, and catfish come out at night to bite on liver or cut bait.

There’s a usable boat ramp and decent dirt road access, though parts of the shoreline are rugged. Primitive camping is allowed, but services are nonexistent—anglers should pack everything in.

Fishing is governed by Utah's general regulations: four trout, six bass, and eight catfish per day. Always refer to the Utah Fishing Guidebook for updates on water levels and seasonal changes.

Recapture Reservoir is a quiet, productive lake that rewards anglers willing to explore its coves and shorelines.
