The lake rose to 88 percent of capacity, and water temperatures remained in the upper sixties to low seventies. Bass anglers reported an improving bite with some epic days in the mix. Large and smallmouth fell for drop shot, Carolina rigs, Keitechs, and Senkos. Small baits with a light purple hue worked the best, but bass also took baitfish, brown, and dark green colors. Striped bass have been chasing shad, so be sure to have a weightless Fluke or other shad imitator ready for the sporadic boils.
