The flows have bumped up over the past week or so due to very high irrigation demand. I live on the river about 5 miles downstream from St. Anthony. High flows not only impact the Box Canyon and the Ranch, but also all of the sections until the Chester Dam. The water gets diverted from there into a series of canals so that by the time it gets to where I live there isn’t much left. This doesn’t mean you still can’t find some good fishing but the extended forecast of more hot dry weather means you should change your timing. You’ll do better to hit the Ranch early in the morning and later in the evening. I doubt the flow will increase much from where it is now and more stability should improve fishing opportunities moving forward.
