Local angler Dale Scott was fishing from shore in the Rotary Park area using anchovies for bait when he landed a small striper and a nice-sized carp weighing 12.12 pounds and measuring 30 inches. We have plenty of carp in our area, and they'll bite on almost anything. Carp is one of the few fish in our area that can be taken by bow and arrow or spear. It's legal to spear certain types of fish, and carp is the only type allowed in this region. No game fish are eligible for spearing or bow hunting. Be sure to check the regulation book to verify.

Below Davis Dam, we're still seeing a great striper bite. Some of the larger fish are starting to show up, and lures are producing great catches. Up on Lake Mohave, trolling has been working well, unless you spot a boil in the water. Watch for ripples, and sometimes birds will flock to the location where stripers are feeding.

Here below the dam, we're also entering trout season. The Willow Beach Hatchery has begun stocking the Colorado River, and rainbow trout are being caught near the stocking sites for a few days after each release. The hatchery staff are doing an excellent job bringing us quality fish, and we hope you all get in on the action. A big thanks to the hatchery for the rainbow trout they provide.

We hope this information helps, and we look forward to seeing you share your catch and story. Thanks for all your support—now go catch a fish!
