Striper bite is doing well up on the Lake Mohave

We have some exciting news from Lake Mohave: the striper bite is doing well! Local anglers Mark Osgood (known as Corn Man) and Shelli had a successful outing, trolling an AC plug and a white bucktail jig to catch three stripers. The sizes of their catches were impressive: one weighed 7.7 pounds and measured 29¼ inches, another was 7.92 pounds and 28 3/8 inches, and the largest was 9.26 pounds and 30⅝ inches. Mark did most of his trolling near the power lines.

Reports indicate that fishing upstream, particularly in the basin, has also been productive using umbrella rigs. Near the dam, keep an eye out for striper boils; almost any type of jig or anchovy will do the trick. Below Davis Dam and along the shores of the Colorado River, shore fishing is the main activity. The striper bite near the casinos and the downriver section of Community Park has been thriving. Further downriver at Rotary Park, swimbaits are yielding a few stripers.

Good news for trout anglers: trout season is here! The Willow Beach Hatchery has begun stocking the Colorado River with rainbow trout. This year looks promising, especially after a successful fish planting event for the Elks Fishing Clinic, named "Your First Fish." I had the pleasure of helping bait hooks for young anglers, and the joy on their faces when they caught their first fish was truly magical.

We hope this update is helpful, and we look forward to seeing you soon to share your catch and stories.

Now, go catch a fish!
