TROUT SEASON IS HERE . . . The trout action has been fair to good over the rainy weekend. It has been a bit slower in the afternoon with the morning and late afternoon bite being the better action. Best baits have been rainbow power bait, night crawlers and the variety of lures with Thomas buoyant and small gold Kastmasters proving best. Pier #3 and trout cove areas have been seeing the best action in the deeper parts of the lake. Some anglers are reporting in nice limits of trout from Trout cove areas with most fish averaging over 2 pounds. One lucky angler, Mike Rodriquez of Escondido, caught a beautiful 6 lb. 7 oz. Rainbow trout on a shad crank bait. Another local angler caught a 6 lb. 4 oz. trout on a plastic worm in Boat Dock Cove area. The next stock will be planted the week of December 3-7 with another 1200 pounds of Rainbows.

Bass action was slower this week. Our local anglers reported catching some smaller bass in the 1 to 2-pound range on the small 3-4 inch plastics worms. The bass are feeding on the smaller-size bait fish. Most of the action has been in the Boat Dock Cove areas and next to Pier #1.

The recent storm has turned the catfish bite ON!!! A couple a brave anglers from the shoreline (on the point between Pier #2 and Trout Cove) soaked cut mackerel and liver in the pouring rain on Friday for their limits on the old whisker fish. Each catfish were in the 3 to 5-pound range.
